OER - Open Educational Resources

This guide is for OER-doers that need more advanced guidance beyond adopting an established open textbook with ready-made supplemental materials.

Finding OER Intro

How do I find open textbooks and OER?

The OERTX Repository, MERLOT, OER Commons, OASIS, and the Mason OER Metafinder are the best places for starting your search. Also, YouTube, Vimeo, and Flickr have filters for openly licenced media. Freely re-use or adapt such media for your teaching.

Plan A - Search OERTX

Plan B - Search on other sites

I tried OERTX. What if I need to look elsewhere?

The 5-minute videos below help you use the search apps at the Open Educational Resource (OER) sites Merlot and OER Commons. At both, you can filter for accessibility and formats. When you play a video, click on the icon at the bottom-right of the screen to make it full-screen.  Go to the "Useful Links" box to quickly get to these and other important sites for your classroom needs.
