COMM 6305 - Organizational Communication Library Tutorial

Using the Library to Conduct Your Literature Review

OPTIONAL Video #1: Zotero - saving and organizing your citations. (Under 5 minutes)

How are you going to save all your citations? Are you going to have them on scraps of paper all over your desk, or have to keep referring back to individual sources to get the citation information? Whatever way you choose, make sure you record the citation information right away, save it, and keep it organized. This will save you LOTS of time when using your research!

Zotero is a great (and free) way to manage your citations. (You can also pay for additional functionality.) However, ALWAYS remember to get the CORRECT citation information into Zotero from the very beginning, or as the first presenter says, garbage in, garbage out. And always review your citations before you turn in your project. The grade you save may be your own! Lastly, be sure to back up your work! If you have Zotero crammed with information and saved on your laptop, a spilled Starbucks could result in disaster!

Zotero is not supported by Angelo State's Library or Information Technology, but if you're willing to put a little extra effort into learning something new, it may pay dividends. The Library does have a physical book regarding using it..
