Cristina Garcia"The English and Modern Languages Department invite you to attend the 2013 Writers Conference in Honor of Elmer Kelton this Thursday and Friday, February 21-22.

"Please visit the conference web page for information about this year’s featured writer, Cristina García, and other invited writers.

"The Writers Conference will take place on Feb. 21-22. On Feb. 22, we will have our major events, which include presentations by all three writers. Our writers will also be presenting for smaller, individual classes. We encourage students, faculty, and the community to join in our celebration of Texas writers at this year’s Writers Conference."

Thursday, February 21

6:00 – 7:30 p.m.      Seventeenth-Annual Writers Conference Kick-Off

Poetry Reading and Reception: Zero One Ale House

Friday, February 22

10:00 – 10:50 a.m.    Welcome and Introductions

Session One: Interview with Featured Writer, Cristina García.

CJ Davidson Conference Center, University Center.

10:50 – 11:00 a.m.   Break and Book Browsing

11:00 – 11:50 a.m.   Session Two: Carmen Tafolla’s poetry reading.

CJ Davidson Conference Center, University Center.

1:00 – 1:50 p.m.      Session Three: Jackie Rosenfeld’s drama reading.

CJ Davidson Conference Center, University Center.

1:50 – 2:30 p.m.      Book browsing and signing.

ASU Bookstore.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m.        Session Four: Reading by Featured Writer, Cristina García, followed by book signing by the three writers.
